J.D. Ross, Class of 1934

J.D. Ross, Class of 1934

J.D. Ross '34, graduated from San Marcos Academy in 1934 and later attended Ouachita College and Marion Institute. He served as Captain in the Army in World War II and was wounded in France in the invasion at Normandy. He received the Silver Cross, the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart. He has served on the Board of Stewards at the Munger Place Methodist Church in Dallas and the Nashville, Arkansas Church. He is a 32nd Degree Mason and in 1978 he and Mrs. Ross were selected the "Arkansas Farm Family of the Year." They have one son, Bob Ross, and today live on a working ranch in Lockesburg, Arkansas.

In his senior year at the Academy, J.D. was President of the Senior Class and selected as the Senior Favorite Personality. In Athletics he lettered in football and basketball in 1932, 1933 and 1934 and was the recipient of the Gold Medal Award for the Outstanding Athlete of the 1933-34 school year.

We welcome J.D. Ross as a 1986 inductee into the San Marcos Academy Athletic Hall of Fame.
