General Electives
a. Learning Skills (1/2 credit): This course is designed to provide academic support
for students with currently documented mild to moderate learning disabilities. It
provides additional instruction using different teaching methods and materials, an
alternative learning environment, and careful monitoring as students complete
work. (Additional fee required)
b. Driver Education (Local Credit Only): This course is taught in accordance with the
requirements of the Texas Education Agency. Thirty-two (32) hours of classroom
work are required for credit. The course is taught after school hours and on
weekends. An additional charge is required and the student must present a birth
certificate to verify his or her age. A notarized DL-14A form must be obtained by
foreign students prior to registering for the course.
c. Library Skills (1/2 credit): The library student assistant, through performance of
library services, will gain a variety of constructive work-learning experiences. The
course will include definite skills in basic library science. The student’s time in the
library will be so constructed as to increase his effectiveness in the use of the
library both on an individual basis and in service to fellow students.
