Course Credit: Each Leadership Education Training (LET)
Level must total 180 academic hours or the same number of academic hours to meet the curriculum
requirements for 1.0 credit in courses such as Math or English. Each LET Level at SMBA earns one
(1) elective credit. At SMBA, each LET Level is divided into a Fall course and a Spring course
worth ½ credit for each semester. In order for a student to progress to the next LET Level, the
student must complete both semesters of the previous level. Students at SMBA may receive
constructive credit for Physical Education by taking JROTC classes.
JROTC Class Requirements: Every member of the Corps of
Cadets (except Carroll students) is required to take a minimum of one semester of JROTC
Leadership Education Training each year. Cadets, especially those in leadership positions,
are highly encouraged to take LET both semesters in order to benefit from the full scope of
the program.
JROTC LET Classes are a one period block
of instruction conducted five days a week. Additionally, cadets are required to attend a one-hour
Leadership Lab every Monday afternoon. This Lab is part of the course curriculum and participation
is factored into the semester grade.
