Physical Education / Health
a. Physical Education (1/2 credit): In this course, body strength and conditioning are
stressed. On occasion, the student will be able to participate in his or her sport
during the athletic period.
b. Athletics (1/2 credit): Students who are interested in competitive sports are
enrolled in the athletic program. During the season the athlete will participate two
days a week in our conditioning program and three days a week in the sport in
which he/she is enrolled, but during the off-season a variety of conditioning
programs and sports will be required. Boys may compete in the following sports:
baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis,
power-lifting and track. Girls may compete in the following sports: basketball,
cross-country, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, power-lifting, golf, soccer, and
softball.
c. Health Education (1/2 credit): Health is a one-semester course for high school
students. The curriculum introduces the topics of infectious diseases, drugs,
alcohol, mental health, physical health, spiritual health, nutrition and the systems
of the body. Content centers on descriptive terminology with supporting concepts
and is reinforced by lectures, videos and demonstrations.
d. Middle School: Middle School students engage in more than the required 30-
minutes per school day or more than 135 minutes per school week of physical
activity. In season, MS athletes will practice their respective sports during the MS
Phys Ed period.
